The Fire Protection Association
The Fire Protection Association (FPA), based in
Gloucestershire, had a a spread of subscribers for its journal which meant
moving the entire print and distribution requirements offshore would not
have returned any real benefit.
Brook Project Management were asked to conduct an issue-by-issue
investigation into how the benefits attainable through a
distributed print model
would compare to the real costs seen in the previous 12 months.
The most cost-efficient solution was proved to be a split print run; with
the print and distribution needs of the copies intended for subscribers in
Europe remaining with the incumbent suppliers, and the requirements of those
copies destined for international readers being placed in Singapore.
The overall result was a significant reduction in both the costs payable by the FPA and also the delivery times taken by the international copies of the journal.
